Arba Minch University Institute of technology (AMiT) is preparing five new MSc Program for the Academic year of 2012/1013. These new MSc programs are designed in request to Ministry of Water and Energy and Ministry of Education. The programs have been given in different naming and content in the last ten years in Arba Minch and other institutions in Ethiopia. The government in line with Growth and Transformation Plan has requested to be modified, renamed and/or reorganizes in a better way to complement the development program. AMiT was given a leading role in partner with Hawassa and Jima University for the development of these programs. The team composed of senior and junior academic staff of AMiT lead by Dr Bogale Gebremariam went to Hawassa for the preparation of the curriculum. The team has revised the existing curriculum of Addis Ababa University, Bahir Dar University and Hawassa University to harmonise for the intended plan by MoWE. The team has submitted the draft MSc curriculum to MoWE for further comment. The following courses are expected to be opened in the 2012/13 academic year in AMU.

  • Irrigation and Drainage Engineering

  • Hydrology

  • Hydraulics Engineering

  • Hydropower Engineering

  • Hydraulics Engineering in Dam Specialization
