Arba Minch University’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) directorate will hold three-day symposium from 19th to 21st September, 2013, at Main Campus.

Around 90 IT experts, professionals and representatives from around five global and national companies and 31 Ethiopian public universities from across the country are likely to participate.

 

‘‘World’s leading Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions providers like Huawei Technologies Co Ltd., CISCO Systems Inc. and others have already confirmed their participation and sponsorship. Many more would be chipping in their support,’’ said the ICT Director, Mr Yoseph Debele.

The objective of the symposium is to exchange innovative experiences and best practices being pursued in ICT arena, researches & achievements and identification of potential information resources to support technical cooperation across the institutions in the nation.

There will be various presentations of research activities on ICT areas; discussions on infrastructures like Video Conferencing Systems, Tele-Health Education, Digital Library issues and deliberation on Ethiopian National Research and Education Network (EthNREN) i.e. government initiative to link all universities via one common network.

‘‘We will also discuss partnership with all varsities on consulting, training, providing technical support to each other that will expand our network on national front,’’ Mr Yoseph added.
