Arba Minch University Senate promoted six academic staff to Associate Professorship Academic Rank position on May 11/2023. Click here to see more pictures!

AMU senate approved academic promotion of Dr Mesfin Menza from department of Economics from College of Business and Economics and other five staff from College of Natural and Computational Sciences: Dr Shetie Gatew from Biology, Dr Simon Derrke from Mathematics, Dr Markos Abiso form Statistics and Dr Tesfaye Gebremariam and Dr Sintayehu Mekonnen from Physics. It is also learnt that the Senate similarly approved the promotion of an expat staff Dr Victor Prem Sam of department of Law from School of Law to Associate Professorship academic rank position on its earlier meeting held on January 21/2023.    

To get promoted to this academic rank, any lecturer and researcher must fulfill the necessary requirements of effective teaching, research publication, community service and active engagement in institutional affairs in accordance with the AMU Senate Legislation Article 56/4 and MoSHE directive of academic promotion, AR01/2020.

 Thus the Senate checked the mandatory credentials endorsed by the Staff Development, Promotion and Scholarship Senate Standing Committee (SDPSC) and found that the cumulative summary of the candidate’s effective teaching of eight semesters, at least four publications, participation in at least three university affairs and community service of at least on three issues, for Dr Mesfin Menza 97.81, Dr Shetie Gatew 97.11, Dr Simon Derrke 96.81, Dr Markos Abiso 96.75, Dr Tesfaye Gebremariam 97.52 and Dr Sintayehu Mekonnen 97.1 and the expat staff Dr Victor Prem Sam 95.87  to be sufficient to fulfill the requirement for promotion.
