Department of Animal Sciences has begun teaching-learning activities from 2008-9 academic year by enrolling undergraduate students in Animal and Range Science. In the course of time, one more UG and four Master programs including a PhD were launched to cater to the need of market-demand mandated by Growth & Transformation Plan of the country. Currently, it has undertaken need assessment task to launch one more UG and two Master programs.
Vision
The Department aspires to offer education, conduct need-driven and problem-solving research, disseminate knowledge and technologies for the community and churn out creatively competent graduates, who will serve and fulfill nation’s emerging needs and requirements.
Mission
It aims to facilitate dissemination of scientific research out-puts and transfer new and adopted technologies for sustainable production of high-quality animal products with their well-being. It will enrich human diet by propagating environment-friendly and ethical use of animals for food, livelihood and recreation.

AVAILABLE INFRASTRUCTURE
The department is striving to own a number of well-established and equipped laboratory and farm facilities for teaching-learning and research activities. In addition to this, there are big location advantage for academic activities in livestock and fisheries. The department has acquired necessary resources that enable it to offer various programs. The existing relevant farms, well-equipped laboratories and able staff are our strength that makes teaching process comfortably well right from UG up to PhD-level.
