Arba Minch University (AMU) hosted the 12th International Symposium on Science for Sustainable Development at its main campus from April 17–18, 2026. The two-day event brought together researchers from universities across Ethiopia and abroad, along with participants from national institutes, representing diverse fields including agricultural sciences, health sciences, and natural and computational sciences. A total of 28 research papers were presented and discussed, while presenters and sponsors received certificates of recognition. The symposium was organized by AMU, co-hosted by the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), and sponsored by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise (ECAE). Arba Minch University (AMU), through its Institute of Culture and Language Studies, hosted a community-based ecotourism project kick-off workshop aimed at enhancing destination outreach and extending tourist stays in Gamo Zone. The event held on April 7, 2026, at Chamo Campus, brought together stakeholders from the South Ethiopia Tourism Bureau, Gamo Zone Tourism Department, and AMU researchers from Tourism and Hotel Management, as well as Sociology and Social Anthropology.
