AMU Hosts ACCEL-3R Project Kick-off Workshop and Stakeholder Engagement Forum

Arba Minch University Water Technology Institute (AWTI) hosted the kick-off workshop of the Accelerating the Adoption of Water Retention, Recharge, and Reuse (ACCEL-3R) Project and a stakeholder engagement forum on June 22, 2026, at its Main Campus. The project promotes the 3R approach: retention, recharge, and reuse of water resources to improve soil moisture management, strengthen drought resilience, enhance agricultural productivity, and contribute to food and water security. AMU and EMI Designated as WMO Regional Training Centers; Senior Officials Hail the Milestone Achievement

Arba Minch University (AMU) and the Ethiopian Meteorological Institute (EMI) have been officially designated as Regional Training Centers (RTCs) by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The designation was approved on 22 June, 2026 during the 80th Session of the WMO Executive Council (EC), marking a significant achievement for both institutions and Ethiopia. Senior University officials expressed their delight over the achievement, describing it as a testament to years of institutional commitment, collaboration, and academic excellence. AMU, MoA and GOPA Install Innovative PASS Technology to Monitor Gully Erosion in Lake Chamo Watershed

ARBA MINCH, ETHIOPIA – Arba Minch University (AMU), the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), and GOPA Worldwide Consultants, under the KfW-supported Sustainable Land Management Program Phase V (SLMP-V), have installed innovative Pumped Active Sediment Samplers (PASS) at selected gully sites within the Lake Chamo watershed. Click here to see more photos.
