Arba Minch University (AMU) expresses its profound sorrow at the untimely passing of Dr. Fantahun Woldesenbet, a distinguished scientist, educator, and valued collaborator. His sudden departure is a great loss to the academic and research community in Ethiopia and to all who had the privilege of working with him.
Dr. Fantahun earned his PhD in Microbiology from Panjab University, India, and built a strong career in the fields of microbiology and biotechnology. His academic journey and passion for scientific research enabled him to contribute meaningfully to knowledge creation, innovation, and the development of biotechnology in Ethiopia.
During his service at AMU, Dr. Fantahun worked as a lecturer and held several academic and administrative leadership positions of an Associate Registrar, a Faculty Dean, and Research Director. Later, he continued his distinguished career at the Bio and Emerging Technology Institute (BETin), where he played a key role in advancing research and strengthening national and international collaborations. Colleagues widely remember him as a human bridge who connected institutions, researchers, and communities, particularly fostering strong ties between AMU and the Bio and Emerging Technology Institute.
AMU extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the wider research community. His dedication to science, education, and collaboration will remain a lasting legacy, and his contributions will continue to inspire future generations of scholars and researchers.

አርባ ምንጭ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በቀድሞ የዩኒቨርሲቲያችን መምህርና ተመራማሪ እንዲሁም ዩኒቨርሲቲውን በተለያዩ የኃላፊነት ቦታዎች ባገለገሉት ዶ/ር ፋንታሁን ወ/ሰንበት ሕልፈተ ሕይወት የተሰማውን ጥልቅ ሐዘን ይገልጻል፡፡
ዶ/ር ፋንታሁን ወ/ሰንበት ነሐሴ 26/1997 ዓ/ም በአፕላይድ ባዮሎጂ ትምህርት ክፍል ሌክቸረር ሆነው በዩኒቨርሲቲው የተቀጠሩ ሲሆን በዩኒቨርሲቲው በነበራቸው ቆይታ ከመደበኛው የመማር ማስተማር፣ ምርምርና ማኅበረሰብ አገልግሎት ሥራቸው ባሻገር የአፕላይድ ሳይንስ ፋከልቲ ዲን፣ የተፈጥሮና ቀመር ሳይንስ ኮሌጅ ምርምርና ማኅበረሰብ አገልግሎት አስተባባሪ እንዲሁም የምርምር ዋና የሥራ ሂደት ዳይሬክተር በመሆን ዩኒቨርሲቲውን አገልግለዋል፡፡
ዶ/ር ፋንታሁን በባዮ እና ኢመርጂንግ ቴክኖሎጂ ኢንስቲትዩት ተመራማሪና የኢንዱስትሪያል ባዮቴክኖሎጂ ዳይሬክተር ሆነው ሕይወታቸው እሰካለፈበት ቀን ድርስ በዘርፉ ሀገራቸውን ሲያገለግሉ ቆይተዋል፡፡
