AMU’s HDSS has rich inventory of vital demographic information

AMU’s Health & Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) situated at College of Medicine and Health Sciences is gathering data since early 2009 from nine designated kebeles in (Gamo Gofa Zone) Arba Minch Zuria District. It’s a treasure trove of vital demographic information for slew of clientele and researchers that in fact offers a roadmap and scientific insight into strategically key and socio-economic issues governing life. Administration may take drastic step to step up services: Dr Melkamu

For Vice President, Dr Melkamu Mada, heading administration is like trudging through a muddle of tough operational issues encircling entire system; it may not be an uphill task, but one has to step forward with a great caution and that’s what we are doing in Arba Minch University, he said.

Research Directorate is expected to roll out 153 thematic and few grand projects in 2018-19 to provide strategic succors to the community grappling with untold socio-economic problems in the adjoining catchments. And precisely, this year’s focus will be to address issues of people who were devoid of availing much-needed assistance is our motto, Director, Dr Teshome Yirgu, said.
