Welcoming the guests, Dr. Adanech Zemede, Delegate for the director of Internationalization and Collaboration Directorate, highlighted this year’s theme, “A Brilliant Language: Conceiving, Designing, and Creating with Italian.” She noted that the Italian language extends beyond communication to serve as a medium of artistic expression, creativity, innovation, and cultural identity. She also thanked the Italian guests, the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute, AMU’s Public and International Relations Executive, and other partners for their contributions to the event.
In the first masterclass, “Sustainable Creativity Speaks Italian: The Genius and Ingenuity of Italian Fashion,” Professor Alessandra Carta, an internationally recognized fashion designer and luxury brand consultant from Modartech University of Fashion and Communication, explored the distinctive qualities of Italian fashion. She highlighted its elegance, craftsmanship, innovation, and artistic excellence, emphasizing how successful designs combine imagination, technical expertise, cultural heritage, and creative thinking. She also underscored the importance of such exchanges in promoting environmental awareness and strengthening relations between the two countries.
The second masterclass, “When Poetry Becomes Music: Vivaldi and the Four Seasons,” was delivered by Mrs. Nancy Milesis Romano, an accomplished musician and Director of the Farnesina’s Choir in Rome. She explored the relationship between poetry, musical expression, and nature through the works of Antonio Vivaldi, the renowned Italian Baroque composer. She also highlighted the broader significance of classical music, including its potential contributions to well-being and therapeutic applications.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion in which participants raised questions and exchanged views with the presenters, deepening their appreciation of Italian fashion, music, and cultural heritage.
