Arba Minch University’s physically-challenged students with their superlative performances have won 5 Golds, one Silver and one Bronze medal at the ongoing Haramaya Sport Festival till date.
Two girls, Yimegnushal Wazge, 1st year geography student and Kebebush Moges proved their worth as both bagged two gold medals each in shot-put and javelin respectively.
Yimegnushal’s first gold came in shot-put with 4.32 meter record that fetched her 9 winning points. Similarly, she snatched second gold in javelin with impressive record of 11.32 meter thus drubbing her rival hands down.
Likewise, Kebebush has put up her best show in shot-put with 6.66 meter which earned her 9 points and first gold. In javelin, she registered amazing record of 18.07 meter that brought her second gold.
Lanky lad, Oman Okello, 1st year sociology & social anthropology student, struck fifth gold for the university in javelin with 6.14 meter of performance securing 9 winning points.
Yetimwork Habtamu, could bag one silver and one bronze medal in javelin by putting spirited record of 10.03 & 4.03 meters. She was adjudged second and third at the game. Seid Mohammed with 4 points in javelin could secure fifth place.
