PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Climate change represents one of the most significant challenges to sustainable development in Africa. To effectively address and adapt to these challenges, it is crucial to cultivate a proficient workforce capable of assuming these responsibilities. The AAM-CSD initiative addresses this critical need by enhancing intra-African academic mobility. This project seeks to substantially bolster capacity building in climate change mitigation and adaptation across the continent through academic mobility initiatives. In alignment with the objectives outlined in the NDICI-2024-MOBAF call, the project aims to promote inter- and intra-institutional partnerships among leading African universities, thereby broadening access to and fortifying green job skills development through inclusive, collaborative learning opportunities that enhance the quality and internationalization of higher education. Through well-organized programs for student, trainee, and staff mobility, along with curricular enhancements and cooperative research efforts, AAM-CSD will develop substantial expertise, skills, and innovative solutions to address climate change-related challenges faced by Africa. The initiative will prioritize gender equality, the inclusion of vulnerable groups, environmental sustainability, and contributing to a sustainable future for Africa, thereby fostering more resilient communities. Key outcomes will include increased academic mobility, collaborative curriculum development, strengthened research capacity, and enhanced institutional partnerships across the continent. The project will adopt a cost-effective approach, utilizing periodic assessments and evaluations to measure success in elevating mobility for students and staff, modernizing curricula, generating impactful research outputs, and significantly contributing to climate action in participating countries. AAMCSD will be instrumental in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering climate resilience.
