PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This proposal is prepared to seek financial support to popularize and commercialize patented innovative enset processing technologies and food products developed by Arba Minch University in a University-Industry-Linkage modality. Enset production hub will be established at the Dorze-Holo site, where an enset park, training, guest houses and basic facilities are already installed. Training will be provided for machines/tools manufacturers, enset raw material supplier women cooperatives, mills and bakeries to ensure hygienic and quality products. Production optimization will be performed under industry manufacturing situations. The developed technologies will be used to produce and pack high quality enset products in collaborating firms/institutions and tested for customer feedback in available local and international markets for product improvement. The available market for the manufactured products will be studied. required promotions will be made to create awareness for the new products and expand the market for the products. The innovative enset based-food products will be certified at Ethiopian Conformity Assessment enterprise and Ethiopian Food and drug authority. Sample products will be marketed, and customer feedback will be obtained. The products will be branded and promoted for sale in both local and international markets. The short term and long-term projected revenues of the project are estimated to be 204,001 ETB and 1,224,126 ETB. This makes the first phase of the project and requires an estimated budget amounting to 483,857 (Four hundred eighty-three thousand eight hundred fifty-seven birr) for twelve months.
