PhD Position: Water Productivity in Practice (WaterPIP)-Knowledge and Action Network
Arba Minch Water Technology institute, Arba Minch University, in collaboration with the UNESCO-IHE, has launched a research project titled "Water Productivity in Practice (WaterPIP)-Knowledge and Action Network".  We invite interested and high caliber candidates to apply for a PhD position related to this project.

This study will take place in southern Ethiopia in selected irrigation schemes around Arba Minch. The goal of the project is to study the water productivity levels of irrigation schemes through field and remotely sensed data to ensure the capacity of targeted farmers by taking data and information to these community groups. Field data collection can began from the time of admission and through growing seasons.
Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
•    Meet the graduate school requirements of the university including the Graduate Admission Test (NGAT)
•    Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering, Irrigation Engineering; Agricultural Engineering; Hydraulics Engineering and Civil Engineering: Preferably who have undergraduate study in Irrigation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering; with field/plot based experimental research and/or remote sensing data.
•    Demonstrated skill of remote sensing data analysis such as WaPOR/crop modeling packages aiming to estimate water productivity in irrigated agriculture
•    Demonstrate motivation for academic research in a collaborative and international setting
•    Exhibit a strong work ethic and the ability to independently manage projects, including meeting deadlines.
•    Be willing to collaborate with master's students and other staff members
•    Commit to adhering to project agreements
•    Maintain project confidentiality and possess basic skills in data handling and processing
•    Contribute to the effective administrative management of the project
•    Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
•    Preference is given to Female candidates

 Benefits
•    The project will cover costs associated with data collection and research. Project members will supervise the PhD student, who will be enrolled in the Irrigation and Drainage Engineering PhD program at Arba Minch University.
