Abstract
Space exploration has not only pushed the boundaries of human knowledge but has also resulted in numerous technological and scientific advancements that have had a positive impact on society. These advancements have touched various aspects of everyday life on Earth, including health and medicine, transportation, public safety, consumer goods, energy and environment, information technology, and industrial productivity. From solar panels to implantable heart monitors, from cancer therapy to lightweight materials, and from water purification systems to improved computing systems, the benefits of space exploration are far-reaching. However, as we venture beyond the protective sphere of Earth, we face numerous challenges. Conditions in space, such as cosmic radiation and hazardous environments, pose significant obstacles. Moreover, human-specific conditions, such as space adaptation syndrome (motion sickness), spatial memory, visual motor performance, bone loss, and the physiological and psychological impacts of living in cramped quarters in zero or low gravity, must also be addressed. In this presentation, I will delve into the benefits, challenges, and technology transfer resulting from space exploration. By overcoming these challenges, we can continue to unlock the potential of space and further enhance our lives on Earth.
