AMU Institutional Quality Enhancement (IQE) Center is one of the sub-processes in AMU which covers those activities from quality auditing to designing and implementing quality improvement programmes. The center stems from the Academic Development Resource Center (ADRC) which has achieved and contributed a great deal in the Continuous professional development of Arba Minch University Academic staff through trainings, Curriculum Development, Internal Quality Audit and Resource provisions since its establishment in 2005.

The EQIP project which has supported ADRC has officially ended in October, 2009. Due to the end of ADRC and based on the findings of BPR study in 2009, the need for establishing Institutional Quality Enhancement Center has arisen. This emanates from the need to bring about fundamental changes in quality enhancement and assurance of the inputs, the throughputs and outputs of our university activities.

AMU IQE Comes with a mission of serving AMU to excel in its services and products through quality audits of the university, through the provision of local professional development trainings to its staff and through continuous evaluation and feedback of its performance. College of Agricultural Sciences was founded in the year 2008 (2000EC) with an objective to bridge the gap between country’s agricultural productivity and growing population. Its existence gains more relevance and responsibility greater to contribute in the nation building in the context where Ethiopia tipped to be one among 10 countries in the world projected to show the highest population growth.
Frequent crop failure due to erratic weather, recurrent droughts and disease outbreak has become the common denominators affecting food security in the country. On the other hand, lack of well-organized agricultural extension services and an inadequate skilled manpower has made the required task of the College predominantly pressing in this changing scenario.
Since then, the College is striving to produce qualified agricultural professionals through rigorous theoretical and practical education. And its mission to develop and disseminate problem-solving agricultural production technologies through conducting demand-driven research is relentlessly going on.
And by doing so, it aims to be the center of excellence in crop production, processing, and animal husbandry in Ethiopia through teaching, research and outreaching community service by efficient utilization of available resources.
It has the humble beginning with 200 undergraduate students in four departments i.e. Animal Science, Horticulture, Plant Science and Rural Development and Agricultural Extension. After the Graduation of the first batch, the college has introduced one more UG program in 2011 and two in 2015 in ‘Natural Resource Management’ and ‘Forestry’ and ‘Agri-Business and Value Chain Management’ respectively.
Of late, the college with its growing out-reaches and collaborative initiatives particularly with Wonji and Omo Kuraz Sugar Corporation Research and Training Centers in the region purposely has widened the expanse of practical and applied research exposure to its students.
In the course of time, the college with its research-oriented staff is continuously streamlining its ongoing UG and PG programs and lacing it with the components that give them edge in the commercial environment. Soon, the college will launch PhD program in Sugarcane Production Technology. As of now, College has 1409 students (860 regular and 526 summer UG and 23 graduate).  And till date over 1010 students graduated by the college.
Many graduates of the College of Agricultural Sciences are employed in private commercial horticultural farms, public agricultural offices, NGOs and research centers at different levels thus contributing to the national agriculture sector.
