AMU’s lone Gircha Highland Fruits and Vegetable Research Centre at Chencha tucked up 3,020 meter above sea level is in earnest quest to find the best for its communities; best fruits, tubers and vegetable varieties that is suited to utmost and chillingly wholesome ambience prevailing over this pleasant mountainous terrain.

Cotton Research: Potassium application boosts yield and fiber quality

Among various problem-solving researches being carried out at AMU, research farm adjoining Shara village is a thematic project – ‘Influence of Nitrogen, Potassium and Phosphorus on Yield and Quality of Cotton,’ by Andargachew Ditebo, who is investigating to what quantity of fertilizer will be appropriate to boost cotton yield and enhance its quality. The research output might prove to be fruitful for farmers.Click here to see the photos

Sugarcane breeding will make Ethiopia self-reliant: Prof A Q Khan

Sugarcane is one of the most important crops, which is likened by an ant to elephant for it sweetens our delicacies and satisfies our gastronomic delight. Ethiopia having only 5.1 kg per capita consumption of sugar needs to enhance its production so that everyone in the country has enough on their platter. Click here to see pictures
