Mission
- Design and implement graduate programmes in accordance with the needs of the university and the policy direction of the country;
- Publish and disseminate research works as well as hold discussion forms to deliberate upon the result;
- Establish and run academic journals and newsletters;
- Contribute specially to the institutional capacity building of other public and non-profit -making private institutions, including the upgrading of the qualifications of their academic status;
- Cooperate with the Institutional Quality Assurance Directorate on relevance of education and quality matters;
- Carry out such other activities that accord with its objectives and the mission, vision and objectives of the university.

The Office for the School of Graduate Studies (SGS)
- The SGS shall function through Department Graduate Committees, College/Institute Academic Commissions and the Graduate Council.
- All university-wide policies, rules and regulations shall mutatis mutandis apply to the SGS with necessary changes.
- The SGS may encourage Colleges/Institute to run joint graduate programs in collaboration with other universities until the SGS develop the necessary capacity to run programs on its own. In such cases special procedures may be set to administer such programs in agreement with the collaborating institution.

Arba Minch University is one of the well known higher learning institutes in Ethiopia providing quality services to its customers for the past 25 years. Aspiring to be one of the leading higher learning institutes in Ethiopia, AMU developed both in physical infrastructures, human resources and in its service provisions to the community. Currently the University runs 37 undergraduate programs and 14 post graduate programs at four different campuses. The current regular student population is about 14,500 of which 30% are female.

1. Higher Diploma Coordination Office
The Higher Diploma office is responsible for coordinating trainings for University instructors towards licensing them as trained professionals in teaching in higher education.
2. English Language Improvement Programme Coordination Office
The English Language Improvement Programme coordination office is responsible for running programmes that can help in the improvement of English for teaching and learning purposes.
3. Institutional Quality Enhancement Training and Resource Center
This center was formerly called Academic Development Training and Resource Center (ADRC Training and Resource Center). The center is meant for hosting trainings and lending resources such as LCDS, Laptops, and Professional Development related books to University instructors.
