Arba Minch Water Technology Institute is the USP (Unique Selling Point), the very seed out of which Arba Minch University was born 31 years ago and since then, it has been fashioning water technologies and creating innumerable professionals spread across Africa and world. AMU’s Livestock and Fishery Research Centre stationed at Kulfo Campus came into being with an objective to breathe life into dormant dairy, fishery, poultry and livestock sectors has task cut out for it. Nestled in verdant Southern Ethiopia, it’s blessed with rich flora and fauna that can possibly translate its ambition into reality; with required infrastructure, apt technology and human capital, it can run full throttle.

It includes rare species, humans and human cultural diversity where social and biological dimensions are interlinked; and to study such massive system, we need undying passion, perseverance and advanced knowhow. College of Natural Sciences’ Department of Mathematics has hosted its 1st national symposium on ‘Mathematics for Advancement of Science and Technology’ at Main Campus from 31st May to 1st June, 2019. The symposium saw presentation of 16 research papers of which AMU has 2 and remaining 14 came from 10 different Ethiopian universities.
