Accountability: PDDD is accountable to VPRC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Publication Oversight:
• Archiving Research: Documenting all research outputs, including articles, books, proceedings, abstracts, and newsletters published by or authored by staff members of AMU.
• Research Outreach: Communicating findings to stakeholders through refereed publications, workshops, and multimedia platforms to maximize institutional visibility.
• Resource Distribution: Ensuring universal access to research outputs by maintaining the university’s digital databases, libraries, and physical archives.
• Professional Development: Directing capacity-building initiatives to equip researchers with advanced skills for global publication and effective dissemination.
• Grant & Funding Stewardship: Identifying and promoting targeted funding streams to subsidize high-impact publication costs and Article Processing Charges (APCs).
• Operational Leadership: Directing the university’s internal and external publishing operations to streamline production workflows and scale institutional research impact.
• Open-Access Advocacy: Negotiating institutional transformative agreements and open-access contracts to eliminate pay walls and maximize global research visibility.
• Facilitating Publications: Facilitating the publication of university-based journals and newsletters.
• Providing Incentives: Providing incentives for research outputs that are published in reputable journals.
Ethics Oversight:
• Institutional Integrity: Leading the development and enforcement of rigorous ethical frameworks, ensuring all research documentation adheres to global standards for subject protection and data transparency.
• Scientific Accountability: Overseeing the verification of authorship and data authenticity to prevent research misconduct, including plagiarism, fabrication, and unauthorized dissemination.
• Strategic Compliance: Directing the lifecycle of ethical clearance and audit protocols, serving as the final authority on the moral and legal integrity of all institutional publications.
• Assign ethics review committee or board members through a competitive process.
• Prepare the roles and responsibilities for ethics review committee or board members.
• Performance Evaluation: Evaluating the performance of ethical committee and board members.
Home Journals:
• Strategic Journal Management: Directing the lifecycle of university journals by enforcing rigorous quality evaluations, establishing new high-impact journals, and securing national and international accreditation to ensure competitive indexing and scholarly prestige.
• Assign journal editorial board members through a competitive process.
• Prepare the roles and responsibilities for journal editorial board members.
• Performance Evaluation: Evaluating the performance of journal board members.
