8th National Symposium on Indigenous Knowledge for Sustainable Peace: A Crucial Step Towards Sustainable Governance

Arba Minch University (AMU) hosted the 8th  National Symposium on Indigenous Knowledge for Sustainable Peace; a pivotal gathering that underscored the university's commitment to fostering sustainable governance through the integration of indigenous wisdom. The event attracted a diverse audience of researchers, policymakers, and experts dedicated to exploring the vital role of indigenous knowledge in peace building. The symposium with the theme “Indigenous Knowledge for Sustainable Peace” served as a platform for dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders from various universities including Addis Ababa, Haromaya, Woldiya, and Jimma as well as representatives from regional and zonal structures. Researchers across universities of Ethiopia from areas of social sciences and humanities, business and economics, and pedagogical and behavioral sciences and law gathered; 19 papers presented and discussed. A Call for PhD Supervision Training 2025

Background

This PhD supervision training is initiated by the Ethiopian SuperStars project. The Ethiopian Superstars is an international training program that involves 7 Ethiopian universities (Addis Ababa University, Ambo University, Arba Minch University, Bahir Dar University, Hawassa University, Jimma University and Mekelle University). The project is coordinated by Jimma University and Ghent University, is financially supported by VLIR-UOS (www.vliruos.be) and runs from September 2023 to August 2026. Click here to see more photos.
